Celebrating 50 Years of Women: Plastic Paradise and Female Gender Identity at the Brother Kenneth Chapman Gallery

All alumni are invited to visit the Brother Kenneth Chapman Gallery in the Iona College Arts Center on North Avenue and attend any of the exciting, upcoming Council on the Arts events.

GALLERY EXHIBITIONS

Plastic Paradise by Elena Kalman
January 26 – February 27
The themes of this installation include the proliferation of plastic production globally and in the U.S., and depletion of natural resources and pollution caused by careless disposal of plastics.

Female Gender Identity and Equality by New York Society of Women Artists
March 2 – April 2
This exhibition explores women artists’ perceptions of identity, persona, social roles, political environment and gender expectations.

Eileen Ivers & Band
Concert featuring alumna Eileen Ivers ’87, ’19H
Thursday, April 2 || 5 p.m.
The Christopher J. Murphy Auditorium
Grammy-Award winning Irish fiddle player, Eileen Ivers ’87, ’19H has been called “the Jimi Hendrix of the violin,” by The New York Times. This event is co-sponsored by the Office of Mission and Ministry for Heritage Week and made possible by a grant from the Iona Council on the Arts.

Sneak Peek: Edmund Rice Christian
Brothers’ Art Foundation

Christian Brother artist Kenneth Chapman has contributed significantly to the art on Iona College’s campus, including 57 paintings exhibited in various College buildings. Recently, the Edmund Rice Christian Brothers’ Art Foundation was formed to preserve and promote the work of Brother Chapman and other Christian Brother artists.
