Record-Breaking Year For Iona Volleyball

Iona College volleyball completed a historic 2018 campaign in November with the program’s second-ever appear-ance in the NCAA Championship. The Gaels captured both a regular season and tournament championship in the same year for the first time in their history. Claire Archibald ’19 made an indelible mark on Iona’s record book as the MAAC’s Offensive Player of the year, Iona’s first since Miki Hogg ’06 in 2004. Archibald completed her career as Iona’s all-time leader with 1,561 kills and No. 7 with 1,343 digs. Emma Rose ’19 was the MAAC’s Setter of the Year, finishing among the nation’s leaders with 11.7 assists per set. Mia Bonsignore ’19 was named the MAAC Championship’s Most Outstanding Performer for her efforts in the Gaels’ title win at Disney’s Wide World of Sports. Third-year head coach Patric Santiago was the MAAC’s Coach of the Year.
