State Department Grant to Expand Horizons Overseas

Iona University has been awarded the U.S. Department of State’s Increase and Diversify Education Abroad for U.S. Students (IDEAS) Grant, joining an exclusive group of 37 U.S. colleges and universities. This prestigious grant aims to establish, expand, and diversify American student mobility overseas, supporting U.S. foreign policy goals.

Heidi Manley, chief of USA Study Abroad, emphasized the program’s significance, saying: “Increasing the number of U.S. students with international experiences is part of our investment in ensuring that our country’s future
leaders have the skills they need in fields ranging from global health to technology and innovation.”

With a robust selection of study abroad programs already in place, Iona looks forward to expanding these opportunities further through the Office of Study Abroad & Service-Learning. This grant will undoubtedly broaden students’ horizons and equip them with valuable global perspectives.
