Steve Madden Chief Financial Officer Zine Mazouzi ’96, ’98MBA returned to Iona to discuss leadership and the lessons he learned as a student that have contributed to his success. Mazouzi came to Iona as an international student from Morocco and now oversees the financial operations of one of the nation’s leading shoe brands.
“I don’t think I would be where I am without Iona and the amazing staff and leadership at the University,” he said. “Iona created opportunities for me that ultimately allowed me to get where I am and literally live the proverbial American Dream.”
“First and foremost, the education quality and curriculum were top notch and would rival any Ivy League university,” he continued. “The staff was experienced and didn’t just follow a textbook. The classes reflected business cases and applied finance. Small classrooms allowed for more interaction and a better learning experience. The Christian values inherent in Iona’s education and diversity on campus are also a big plus—and this is coming from a Muslim kid.”
