ALUMNUS REUNITED WITH LOST COLLEGE RING 50 YEARS LATER
A few years after graduation, Iona College alumnus John Munro ’66 was on a ski trip in Rutland, VT, when he lost his cherished Iona class ring that was gifted to him by his parents.
One day this past summer, 50 years after losing his ring, John received a call from his beloved alma mater. His original ring had been found! A kind stranger had taken his grandchildren to a school playground in the Rutland area, when he noticed something glistening on the ground and discovered it to be an Iona College class ring. Luckily, John’s name and graduating year were engraved on the ring, so he was able to contact the College and ship it back to John, who currently resides in Hunterdon County, N.J.
Later, John was able to connect with the gentleman and the two plan to stay in contact.
“He’s an amazing person,” John said. “He didn’t want any reward or anything, he was just thrilled to get it back to me. Values, honesty and integrity really manifested in him.”
