Once a year, the College travels to a different destination with our alumni and friends for the “Alumni Getaway Travel Program.” Since the year 2000, groups have traveled on 21 trips to Europe and the continental United States—always proudly displaying an Iona banner!
Recent Tour Recap: Greece and Its Islands
This year’s tour began in Greece’s lively capital, Athens, where alumni enjoyed a welcome dinner in a traditional Greek taverna and listened to live music from a bouzouki in the city’s historic district, the Plaka.
They then embarked on a three-night cruise to the Greek Islands and Turkey, visiting Mykonos, the Turkish port of Kusadasi, Crete, Santorini, Piraeus, and Thermopylae.
The group then traveled to Delphi, where pilgrims from all over the ancient world once came to consult its mysterious oracle.
The last day was spent partly in Corinth, where Paul wrote two epistles and lived and preached for two years. They finished with some time in Athens, visiting the Acropolis.
