On May 8, 2018, President Joseph E. Nyre, Ph.D., announced the appointment of Matt Glovaski as Iona’s 10th director of Athletics. Glovaski has been a part of Iona Athletics for the last 13 years.
“Matt Glovaski has been a great ambassador for Iona College and its Athletics Department during his time in New Rochelle,” said President Nyre. “We look forward to his inspiration, leadership and support for our student-athletes, coaches and administrators and the continuation of the success of Iona Athletics on the field and in the classroom and the community.”
During his time at Iona, Glovaski has had oversight of nearly every aspect of the Athletics Department. He was hired in 2005 as assistant athletics director for Recreation and Intramurals and was the first to run the newly erected Hynes West. Glovaski then became the top administrator for internal affairs and in 2013 was promoted to senior associate for Advancement & External Affairs Athletics director and served as the chief revenue generator and head of the Iona College Goal Club.
“I look forward to building upon the solid foundation that has been created and working with our tremendous student-athletes, coaches and staff,” said Glovaski. “We will continue to perform with integrity, while doing things the right way and keeping in mind the well-being of our student-athletes as we strive for success in competition.”
