On May 9, Iona College announced it had reached the $100 million mark in its historic Iona Forever campaign.
President Joseph E. Nyre, Ph.D., stated, “Iona Forever is a $150 million comprehensive campaign directly supporting our students, our faculty, our programs, our campus and our legacy. We’ve reached an important milestone raising $100 million, and that’s a reason to pause and celebrate the Iona community and our supporters who are coming together to create a brighter future, and Move the World.”
The stars of the celebration were the students who spoke about their experiences at Iona and expressed their gratitude.
Justin Pellegrino ’19, a social work major and student campus minister, provided the invocation and commented, “Since I have been on campus, I have seen a multitude of changes that have improved our College life. These changes and the access to many new opportunities are only possible through the generous gifts that have been made to the College.”
During her remarks, Hannah McGowan ’20, an education major and the Student Government Association president, expressed her appreciation for our alumni who are committed to supporting a community that is dedicated to the service of others. She went on to say, “Thank you for giving me the opportunity to achieve my dreams of being a president, being challenged by faculty, being a campus minister and serving others all over the world. Without all of you in this room, I would not be able to attend Iona, so thank you for the greatest gift I will ever receive.”
“We have reached this important mark in our campaign due to the collective effort of many of our alumni and friends who have made commitments at all levels to support our students,” stated David J. McCabe ’80, campaign co-chair and Board of Trustees member. “And we are excited to strive toward our goal of $150 million as we continue to call upon our proud alumni to support this campaign and transform lives.”
